JAMMU, Aug 24: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), has accused the BJP of spreading false narrative over the NC stand on reservation issues of Dalit, Gujjar- Bakerwal, Pahari, OBC, Gaddi and other depressed communities.
“Our party has always fought for the rights of the depressed and marginalized classes in Jammu and Kashmir. We stand firmly by our commitment to ensuring their welfare and progress. Any misinformation suggesting otherwise is nothing but a desperate attempt by BJP to create confusion among the people,” he said in a statement, issued here today, in response to BJP allegations against NC manifesto.
Rattan Lal emphasized that the National Conference has never compromised on the identity of Jammu and Kashmir. “It was the BJP, not us, that bifurcated a full-fledged State into two Union Territories, stripping away our historical status and pride,” he said.
Rattan Lal Gupta said, “our youth are left with bleak prospects. Several recruitment scams have come to light, daily wagers and public sector employees are taking to the streets to demand their rights, industries are on the verge of closure, and the business community is struggling to survive.”
The senior NC leader criticized the BJP for failing to address the basic needs of the people, leading to deteriorating socio economic conditions and governance in Jammu and Kashmir. “Only the National Conference can ensure equitable development across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated, urging the public to reject divisive politics and unite for the common good in the ensuing Assembly polls.
Rattan Lal reiterated that the National Conference is committed to restoring the dignity, identity, and future of J&K. “We will continue to fight for the rights of all communities and ensure that Jammu and Kashmir progresses as a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous region,” he concluded.
