KISHTWAR, Dec 28: The villagers from Kandni, Drabshalla, Phagumarh and Bhandera areas of district Kishtwar, who are being ousted by the authorities in view of construction of Rattle hydel power project have demanded proper re-assessment of their land, houses and shops which are coming in the dam area.
A group of villagers led by Tara Chand Parihar, chairman Panchyati Adalat Sanghthan, Drabshalla, which met the Divisional Commissioner here on Friday alleged that district authorities were doing great injustice to them as they were being provided compensation as per 2010 survey and old rate whereas, the rates of the land properties have gone high now. They claimed that 30 % less compensation was not acceptable to the families, traders and others being dislocated from their villages.
They pointed out that Govt has started work on the project at Drabshalla and the locals are being harassed and victimized. They have not been paid compensation so far for their properties being acquired. Dust and mud have made their life miserable with the ongoing work. The local politicians and NGOs were also silent over the issue. They demanded that district Revenue and R&B authorities should review the compensation and provide them at the present rates.
They also alleged that despite several representations to local MLA, R&B Minister and even the DC Kishtwar nothing has happened so far. They warned to launch indefinite agitation if the justice is denied to them.
