JAMMU, May 7: 126th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar was celebrated today by All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha at its headquarter here at Krishna Nagar, under the chairmanship of Piran Ditta, president of the Sabha.
BR Kundal, ex-chief secretary, J&K State, was the chief guest while Presidents/secretaries of different branches of the Sabha in Jammu province as well as members of the Sabha participated in the celebrations.
While paying floral tribute to the Baba Sahib, BR Kundal described him as a ‘Masiha’ of dalits, a great leader, scholar and modern ‘Manu’, who always fought for the social, economical and political rights of down trodden people.
Piran Ditta also paid tributes to Baba Sahib, while speaking on the occasion, he pressed the drown trodden to follow the path shown by Baba Sahib. “Only this way dalits will be able to safeguard their rights granted by Constitution of India”, he added.
He also urged the State Government to restore promotion in reservation to pacify the unrest among SC/ST employees to avoid any agitation program by dalits of the State.
Later, Piran submitted the account statement of the Sabha for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 before the general house, which was approved unanimously.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Sham sunder Bassam, Om Parkash, Mulkraj, Dr Raj Pal Hans, Badri Nath, Darshan Angral, Raj Kumar Raja, Charan Dass, Om Parkash Digra, Darshan Bassan and Sudesh Kumar.
