Raviti, Basaat, Pankaj emerge winners in inter-college seminar

JAMMU, Aug 29: Inter-college seminar on the topic “Role of ICT in Education” was organized by the Science Club of Government College for Women, Udhampur in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science, Technology and Innovation, District Office Udhampur.
Eighteen students drawn from the various colleges participated in this seminar.
The seminar was coordinated by Dr Sanjay Kharoo, District Coordinator, Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Udhampur.
The function started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the chief guest Prof KS Koushal, Principal of the College and other dignitaries followed by the keynote address by Dr Bhavnaish Chand, Convener of the Science Club.
Dr Chand said that adoption and use of ICT’s in education have a positive impact on teaching, learning and research. ICT can affect the delivery of education and enable wider access to the same. In addition, it increases flexibility so that learners can access the education regardless of time and geographical barriers.
Prof KS Koushal in his presidential address said that with the world moving rapidly into digital media and information, the role of ICT in education has become more and more important and this importance will continue to grow and develop in the 21st century.
Dr Bhavnaish Chand, HoD Physics, Prof Ravinder Kour from Department of Physics and Prof Brinder Kumar, HoD Zoology acted as jury members.
Raviti Gupta from GCW Udhampur bagged first prize, while second and third prizes were clinched by Basaat from GCW Udhampur and Pankaj Kumar Singh from GGM Science College Jammu. The consolation prizes were shared by Chandan Khajuria, Suchita Sharma and Akanksha Mahajan, all from GCW Udhampur.
