RBA people stage protest against Govt

JAMMU, Dec 8: The members hailing from Reserved Backward Area (RBA) category staged protest demonstration outside Press Club here today.
The protest was  held under the leadership of a social activist, Kewal Sharma and advocate Rajesh Thapa. While highlighting their demands these members alleged that this category members have been deprived of their rights due to callous and numb approach of  the State Government towards their issues.
They pointed out that the State rulers have cared for only other reserved categories while the RBA category people have been ignored. They are not being given due share. They also made mention of  injustice being meted out to the fair sex, pin pointing that if a non-RBA girl is married to a RBA person she has to wait for the category consideration for at least 15 years for the benefit.
Earlier, the situation was different, but since 2006 vide Govt order  GAD (Adm) 18/2006-1 dated 27/2/06 the RBA status to a non-RBA girl marrying to RBA person was denied. They said the MLC Shenaz Ganai had also raised this issue forcefully in the Upper House but Govt remained unmoved. They warned to launch State wide agitation over the issue if Government failed to withdraw this controversial order.
Tehsildar retired Avtar Krishan, Master Prithvi Singh, D N Sharma, Nek Ram ( Naib The retd), Neelam Gouria Naib Sarpanch and many others participated.
