JAMMU, Nov 9: As part of the National Mission for Capacity Building of Bankers for financing MSME Sector (NAMCABS), a pilot workshop for capacity building of branch managers of Specialised MSME Branches and heads of Regional Training Centres of banks was inaugurated by D. Sethy, Regional Director for Jammu & Kashmir, RBI Jammu here today.
The workshop was attended by 33 participants, comprising Branch Managers of Specialised MSME Branches and in-charges of MSME Divisions in the Controlling Offices of 11 major banks functioning in the State.
In his inaugural address Mr Sethy highlighted the importance of MSME sector especially in view of “Make in India”, Digital India, Start-up India etc. programmes of GoI. He mentioned that MSMEs constitute the dominant form of business organization even across the world and are the major providers of employment. The broad objectives of NAMCABS are to build skills for MSME lending and develop entrepreneurial sensitivity among the field level functionaries of specialized MSME branches of commercial banks. The mission is to train Branch Managers of specialised MSME branches of all banks in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, dealing directly with MSME lending as well as Controllers and trainers of the banks through this initiative in the coming months. He appealed to the bank officials present to enhance lending to MSMEs in the State and be more sensitive to the needs of the small entrepreneurs, particularly the first generation entrepreneurs as they are the backbone of economy keeping in view negligible presence of large industries or corporate houses.
Commissioner Secretary, I&C, Govt of J&K, Members of Faculty, College of Agriculture Banking, RBI, Pune, Professor, Central University of Jammu, DGM, SIDBI Chandigarh, Head Key Accounts, HDFC Bank, Ahmedabad, DGM, SME, Local Head Office, SBI, Chandigarh are the expert speakers for the workshop.
