REASI, Nov 22: District Administration has launched a massive e-Governance Project for interlinking all Panchayats with block and district headquarters, decentralised uploading of requisite information under MGNREGA, online demand generation, information transmission and grievance redressal.
Out of 147 Panchayats, 101 have been provided Tablet Computers to be operated by trained Gram Rozgar Sewaks recruited recently. Previously, the project was launched on pilot basis in 30 Panchayats and after encouraging response 71 more Panchayats were equipped with IT gadgets today where District Development Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and Assistant Commissioner Development Joginder Singh Rai briefed the officials for improving the working atmosphere and ensuring prompt response through Information Technology.
Arnas and Pouni have achieved 100% coverage under e-Panchayat. In Phase-II remaining 46 Panchayats will be covered and three composite V-SAT hubs will be established at Mahore, Dharmari and Arnas during current financial year for better connectivity.
Various departments located at these remote locations with poor connectivity will also benefit from the composite communication centres. The project has been jointly planned and funded by the District e-Governance Society and Rural Development Department. Pre-paid internet plan has been provided to all 101 Gram Rozgar Sewaks. Works worth more than Rs 5 crore have already been made online during pilot phase.
The Gram Rozgar Sewaks equipped with IT gadgets and connectivity have also been trained for immediately sending pictures and note about any complaint or mishap noted or reported in the district. District e-Governance Society with DDC as Chairman, ACD as Member Secretary, ADC and ACR as members in collaboration with Rural Development Department has initiated IT projects at Panchayat and Patwar Halqa level.
Interacting with the GRS, VLWs and other officials of the department, the DDC hoped that introduction of IT in Panchayats through a phased manner will go a long way in quick service delivery and all round development.
