Ready for Assembly elections in J&K, waiting for EC decision: Ram Madhav

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader and national general Secretary Ram Madhav on Monday said the party is ready for Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir but is awaiting the decision of Election Commission.
“We have asked the EC to conduct Assembly polls in the state,” Mr Madhav told reporters here.
He said, “BJP is ready for Assembly polls and whenever they are announced, we will actively take part in the process.”
Municipal polls and panchayat polls were held peacefully in the state, he said, adding, “We are sure Assembly polls too will be held by year end in the state.”
“The people from all the three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have accepted the ideology of the BJP and we are sure that people will give huge mandate to us in Assembly polls so that we can form our government,” said Mr Madhav.
He, however, said several senior leaders from different political parties, have started joining the BJP.
On Article 370 and Article 35 A abrogation from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP stalwart said, “The decision of the Court is still pending but modalities can be looked into how it can be revoked.”
“One thing is clear that these are “illegal” and has to go from J&K,” he said.
Mr Madhav further said the people are coming into BJP fold and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working tirelessly to take country to new heights.
He also said that the Centre and State governments are jointly working for the development of Jammu and Kashmir while security forces are after terrorists and they will soon curb the terrorism.
