JAMMU, Feb 8: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has said Government is on a comprehensive plan for beautifying the embankments of Ranbir canal by developing strips with modern line facilities like landscaping, walkways, illumination and benches facilities.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the officers of Irrigation Department during his visit to Digiana Ashram, here today.
Mr. Bhalla asked the accompanied Irrigation and Flouriculture Departments officers to prepare a detailed project report of their respective office works for raising the height including widening of culvert of Ranbir canal besides beautifying the canal embankments with facilities of illumination and benches near upto Digiana Ashram and submit the same for funding so that the projects could be started for the convenience of general masses.
Mr. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 73 lakh for widening of Digiana Ashram-Model town link road besides upgradation of lanes and drains of the localities. He said that Government is committed to develop every corner of the State on modern lines especially for ensuring better roads, adequate drinking water, power, hospitals, recreational parks, schools besides lanes and drains. He sought cooperation of the people in implementing the development programmes on ground level.
Later, the Minister also inspected pace of progress on the Stawari-Kunjwani road being upgraded to six lanes. He said that the widening work on the road is in full swing and would be completed within prescribed time frame. He said a whooping Rs. 50 crore is being expended on this prestigious project.
The Minister directed the accompanying PHE and PDD authorities to realign the public utilities like electric poles, wires and water supply pipes to ensure the early completion of the 6-lane project.
