Excelsior Correspondent Reasi, Aug 24: The students of General Zorawar Singh Degree College Reasi here today staged a protest demonstration against the shortage of staff in their college. Carrying banners and placards, the protesting students marched from college to bus stand Reasi and blocked the court road and main chowk road. A large number of students including girls participated in the protest. The protesters criticised the Government for not providing teaching staff and basic facilities to the college. They said that most of the posts of teachers at the college were vacant from the past several years. The precious time of students was being wasted owing to shortage of teachers, they added. The protesters said that most of the students were coming from remote and far-flung areas but their future was diminshing owing to shortage of teachers. The protesting students warned that they would be left with no other option but to launch protest rallies if the vacant posts are not filled as early as possible. The protesters dispersed peacefully when DDC Sushma Chauhan made some internal arrangements.
