SURANKOTE, May 21: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Gulam Ali Khatana has said that record poll percentage in Ladakh and Baramulla has clearly established that situation in Kashmir has now improved a lot and peace has prevailed in the region.
“This was only possible by the extra-ordinary leadership of PM Modi during the BJP rule over the country in the last ten years,” he further said.
Addressing a public meeting in mountainous Surankote area of border district of Poonch on Tuesday Khatana said that terrorism has been decimated, stone-pelting is seen nowhere, cross-border infiltration has also been reduced to zero in J&K after the PM Modi gave a free hand to the security forces on borders and inside J&K to deal with the law and order situation.
Apart from the record high poll per cent in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, number of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir has also enormously increased especially after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A as this has changed the thinking of people from rest of the country about Kashmir and its people.
“The increase in number of tourists in Kashmir has also improved the economy of the region and reduced unemployment to a large extent,” the BJP leader said.
He further said that more such positive developments are also in plans after PM Modi becomes the helmsman of the world’s largest democracy for the third time.
Speaking on the occasion senior BJP leader and former Minister, Abdul Gani Kohli said: “BJP is all set to cross 400 plus mark in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections to usher the nation into a new era of more developments and more progress after which our country will become the third leading economy in the world.” Former MLC and BJP in charge Surankote, Shahnaz Ganai while addressing the gathering said in Jammu and Kashmir BJP has now become a name to trust upon for the poor Gujjars and Bakerwals and these marginalised communities have pinned their hopes on the leadership of PM Modi.
BJP district vice president Azhar Manhas said: “People have now clearly identified the real face of Congress, National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and they will not fall into the trap of sugar-coated words of these dynast parties.”
He accused Congress of misleading people about the welfare policies of Modi Government.
