LEH, Oct 4: A record revenue of over Rs 2.70 crore has been realized at Toll Post, Upshi, Leh up to ending September this year as against Rs 1.91 crore during the corresponding period of last financial year thus registering 42 percent increase.
This information was given to the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather during his inspection to the Toll Post Upshi today.
The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Excise and Commercial Taxes, Leh and Kargil, Tashi Dolma.
The Minister took stock of the functioning of Toll Post, Upshi and asked the employees to work with added zeal and dedication.
Mr. Rather also inspected the District Treasury, Leh and reviewed its functioning. He patted the staff posted in the district treasury for submitting upto date accounts to the Accountant General’s office. Mr. Rather was informed that there is no liability at present in the treasury.
During the inspection to the Fund Office, Leh, the Minister directed the concerned officers to keep Fund Accounts up to date. He was assured that there will be no arrears on this Account by the end of this year.
Mrs Dolma informed that Commercial Taxes Circle Leh has collected a revenue of Rs. 41.52 crore up to ending September 2012 which is Rs 17.74 crore more as compared to the revenue collected during the previous year, thus registering a growth of 74.59 percent.
Mr. Rather enjoined upon the officers of Excise and Commercial Taxes Department to realize the revenue targets in full, adding that revenue collection was important for the State’s economic sustenance.
