JAMMU, Feb 11: The LIC employees of J&K under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association Srinagar division staged a protest demonstration outside offices of LIC of India across J&K.
The protest was led by Pawan Gupta, Divisional secretary of the Association.
Speaking on the occasion Gupta said that there is an acute shortage of Class III and IV employees in LIC. He said that out of 8000 Class III vacancies notified in 2020, more than 2700 vacancies could not be filled up for various reasons and the position is more worse for Class IV.
“Rather than addressing the issue by way of recruitments, attempts are being made at some places to outsource Class IV jobs,” he maintained adding: “With many exits due in next couple of years, there is an urgent need for recruitment to keep up with the soaring customer expectations and to retain our pre-eminent position as the insurer of choice.”
The protesters also said that the issue of recognition to AIIEA is a very long pending demand of the employees.
Rajesh Gupta, joint secretary; Raj Kumar Sharma, joint secretary; Dinesh Kumar Sharma, vice president; Rajesh Kumar, treasurer; Raj Kumar, office secretary; Priya Sharma, women sub-committee; Harkesh Kumar Singh and Kishore Lal, Jammu-3 and others also spoke on the occasion.
