JAMMU, Sept 27: Indian Red Cross Society, Region Jammu in association with PG Department of Blood Transfusion and Medicines, Government Medical College, Jammu today organized a symposium on the theme – “Voluntary Blood Donation – A Need of the Hour”, here at Red Cross Auditorium, Kachi Chawni.
Students of Government as well as private colleges of Jammu viz. GGM Science College, MIER College, KC Law College Jammu, Government MAM College, Commerce College, GCW Gandhi Nagar as well as Parade Jammu, Government College of Education, Jammu, Government Polytechnics for Boys and Women, Jammu participated in the event.
The symposium was inaugurated by RC Puri, Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu, who also threw light on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation and urged upon the students to donate blood voluntarily for the humanitarian cause.
On this occasion, Dr Vijay Sawhney, Head of the Department, Blood Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College, Jammu, made a brief note on the importance of Voluntary Blood Donation. Dr Kamaljit Singh, Associate Prof, Department of Blood Transfusion, GMC, Jammu and Dr Naveen Akhtar also spoke on the topic.
Meenakshi of GCW Gandhi Nagar won 1st Prize, Anchal Singh of Government MAM College, Jammu bagged 2nd whereas Kamal Saini, GGM Science College, Jammu and Aneet Kamal Kour of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, shared 3rd Position, respectively.
