JAMMU, Mar 26: Director General Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, S Gopal Reddy has called for major initiative to train youth in civil defense mechanism to meet the exigencies and minimize human causalities and public property.
Mr. Reddy said this while chairing a meeting with officers of Home-Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at Home-Guard Headquarters here today.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Reddy stressed on involving more volunteers from the local populace of districts, tehsils, remote and far-flung areas of the State and creating awareness about their role in disaster management. He added that the campaign must not remain restricted to urban and semi urban areas but should be extended to remote pockets as well.
Mr. Reddy emphasised upon the officers that civil defence activities should be carried out in a healthy and positive manner and each and every members of the Organisation should contribute efficiently in strengthening the department.
While deliberating on various issues related to strengthening of all the wings of Home Guards Organization at various levels, Mr. Reddy asked the officers to provide conducive work environment, besides organizing workshops, awareness camps and interacting sessions with the civil wardens to have firsthand knowledge about their working. He said that with the changing times, the functioning of all the wings of the Organization needs to be strengthened at every level.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP, TD Saini and AK Mahajan, SPs, Stenzen Narboo and Vikas Gupta, DySPs, Sushma Kotwal and Tejender Kour, Mohammad Amin and Jameel Anjum and other police officers of HG/CD and SDRF.
