Redress Patwaries’ demand immediately: DPP

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 18:  Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) has strongly  condemned the State Government for its criminal silence over continuous strike of patwaries causing huge problems for the general public and described it a most undemocratic and anti-people attitude of the people in power. The party demanded that demands of the patwaries, which are genuine,  be fulfilled immediately to put an end to the strike.
Addressing a press conference here today, president of the Party, Uday Chand, said it is the fundamental and constitutional duty of the Government to redress the genuine demands of the people including its employees but unfortunately both State and Central Government forgot their duties and forced them to go on protests and strikes for their genuine problems pending years together.
He wondered that it took 40 days to revenue Minister to just appeal the striking patwaries to call off their strike that too without any concrete assurance.
Extending support to the agitating patwaries, DPP president asked the Government to hold negotiations with the representatives of the J&K Patwar Association immediately.
He further accused the Government of appointing patwaries and other revenue officials, who don’t know Urdu, the official language of the State, which creates problems for the people as the whole revenue record is in Urdu language. He demanded that all the revenue officers appointed up to Deputy Commissioners must be Urdu known.
