JAMMU, Dec 11: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) contesting candidate for Gandhi Nagar constituency Amrik Singh Reen today promised holistic development of the constituency if he is elected to power.
Conducting door to door campaign and addressing meetings at Rahim Nagar, Digiana, Channi Himmat, Bahu Fort, Reen took a jibe at MLA Gandhi Nagar and said that incumbent MLA including the Congress leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has lost credibility among masses which was evident from the rally of AICC president Sonia Gandhi at MA Stadium where all the senior Congress leaders of the state were present but people were seen moving out of the venue the moment AICC president Sonia Gandhi started addressing the public.
Reen said public has already expressed its resentment with the NC-Congress Government during the Lok Sabha polls, when both the coalition partners had failed to get even a single Parliamentary seat from Jammu, Kashmir as well as Ladakh region of the state.
Most of the localities in the Gandhi Nagar constituency sans basic amenities including power, electricity supply, roads, infrastructure and the public frustration in the form of protests, demonstrations is visible throughout the year but incumbent MLA never highlighted these issues though he remained Minister for a long tenure.
“MLA overlooked major pilgrim as well as tourist destinations in his constituency as the most ‘hyped’ Gandola project is yet incomplete a proposal for which has been made quite earlier. This non-seriousness of the MLA is an indicator of the fact that he lacks a perspective approach to develop the constituency”, said Reen.
Reen made a fervent appeal to the voters to strengthen the party at grass root level and promised that if he will be elected to power, settling issues of Gandhi Nagar will be his top priority after highlighting these issues within the Assembly as well as other platforms.
Surjeet Kour, Harmeet Singh, Varinder Singh Sonu, Deepak Handa and others also addressed the gatherings.
