NEW DELHI, May 17: Government today said that it has sought to know what was the permissible scope for interference by courts with policy making through the Presidential Reference it has filed.
Law Minister Salman Khurshid gave this information following a question in the Lok Sabha about whether the Government had taken note of the Supreme Court’s recent observation with regard to allocation of natural resources.
Khurshid apprised the house of the questions related to natural resources in the Presidential reference.
“Whether the only permissible method for disposal of all natural resources across all sectors and in all circumstances is by the conduct of auctions?” was one of the questions Khurshid listed.
“Whether a broad proposition of the law that only the route of auctions can be resorted to for disposal of natural resources does not run contrary to several judgments of the Supreme Court including those of the larger benches?,” was the second question.
“What is the permissible scope for interference by courts with policy making by the government including methods for disposal of natural resources?” was the third question related to allocation of natural resources that the Government has asked in its Presidential reference.
“The reference is listed for hearing on July 10, 2012,” the Law Minister said. (PTI)
