It is after many years of neglect that Education Department has seen a ray of light in the present Education Minister. It seems that the Minister is fully aware of the problems of the teaching community and most of which came in focus in detailed presentation with positive response. In fact the teachers of School Education Department heard for the first time that their Minister has full faith in them. It is, this encouragement and reforms which will streamline the functioning of Education Department. The Department of School Education can be put on right track provided long awaited reorganisation is done and adequate staff is provided from Directorate to Zonal level. The inspection and supervision wing should be strengthened. More Education Zones should be sanctioned. School Education Officers be promoted upto CEO level. Mid-Day Meal and building construction activities should be transferred to Rural Development Department or NGOs etc. The teachers should be kept confined to teaching job only. The present transfer policy should be abolished and new teacher friendly policy be adopted for transfer. Salary be paid in time. This and many more positive steps will infuse new life in Education Department.
