Refresher course in education begins at JU

JAMMU, Jan 18: Three weeks refresher course in education, being organized by the Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Education, began here this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma asked the teachers to take advantage of the courses which are aimed at equipping the teachers with the latest developments taking place in the educational system so that students are provided the latest and quality education by adopting better teaching methods.
He stressed upon the participating teachers to be role models to their students by maintaining regularity and punctuality as the conduct of the teachers has a deep and lasting effect on the mindsets that students develop.
Highlighting the importance of the Refreshers Courses, Prof  Mubarak Singh, Dean, Faculty of Education,  said that such type of academic interactions are very important for the teachers as they provide them with the opportunity of interacting with the people who have done excellent work in their areas. He further said that such types of Refresher Courses and Orientation Courses for teachers help in providing them with the latest techniques and developments taken place in the education sector and also help in improving the professional competencies of the teachers in Higher Education.
Earlier in her welcome address, Prof Renu Nanda, Head, Dept of Education and Course Coordinator, also spoke on the occasion and gave the brief highlights of the lectures that will up taken up during the three weeks.
Ranjit Kalra, Asst Director, ASC, presented formal vote of thanks.
Around 30 teachers from various colleges of the State and outside are participating in the three weeks refresher course.
