Refresher Course in Physics, Electronics begins at JU

JAMMU, Jan 7: Two-week long Refresher Course for Physics & Electronics teachers commenced today at University of Jammu (JU).
The course is being organized by UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and Department of Physics, University of Jammu.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the Refresher Course, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu said that teachers act as the catalysts and prime movers for the all-round development of the students and for this the academic development of the teachers is crucial and necessary for the success of any educational system.
He also asked the teachers to raise the standard of their professional competency to a high level so as to impart quality knowledge to the students which he said can be achieved by focusing on quality of research, participation in national and international seminars/workshops, faculty exchange programs, up gradation of qualifications, paper/book writing and collaborating with fellow researchers in other higher educational institutions.
Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Research Studies and Dean Faculty of Sciences talked about the importance of the course and urged the teachers to make proper use of the training programme aimed at the faculty development.
Prof Rahul Gupta, Director, HRDC in his address said that these types of courses provide the participants an opportunity to getting themselves updated in their concerned area.
Earlier in his welcome address, Course Coordinator, Prof Sanjeev Singh Sambyal, Head, Department of Physics, University of Jammu, outlined the course contents that will be taken up during three weeks.
Around 29 teachers from various Colleges and Universities from within and outside J&K are participating in the Refresher Course.
Among others, Prof Vivek Gupta, Prof Arun Bhatt, Prof Bamzai, Prof Rakesh Vaid, Prof Praveen Lehana, Dr Rani Devi, Dr Ramni Gupta and Dr Sandeep Arya were present on the occasion.
