SAMBA, Feb 1: A delegation of refugee leaders and sarpanchs of district Samba, led by Ch Manmohan Singh, former Mayor of Jammu and State president AIJMS, met Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, to discuss the details of the planned refugee package.
The recipients of this package, the displaced families were not aware of the requirements regarding the documentation for the package. Moreover some other details needed to be made public regarding the whole process.
The DC Samba Sheetal Nanda listened to their concerns very patiently and agreed that some measures must be taken to ensure that people face less problems in the face of confusion over details.
For such, the documents considered mandatory to be submitted by the DPs of 1965 & 1971 along with application form, as per decided in the meeting included Ration Card of 1965 & 1970; Revenue documents of the allotted land, Permanent Resident certificate; Bank account document bearing 16 digit account number in the shape of Mandate Form from the bank duly attested from the concerned bank; Adhaar Card of the legal head of the family; and in case of non camp DPs of 1971, who did not stay in the camps and were not provided ration cards or land, the proof having been provided the NHRC Relief of Rs 25000 will be sufficient to establish their genuineness.
A file of all these documents must be prepared and submitted to the concerned Tehsil Offices. In case of any dispute regarding the cash settlement within the families, an application from a family member can be submitted to the concerned Tehsildar, asking to be made a party of the settlement amount.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that people should be aware of frauds being done in the name of cash delivery process by some people as this package is a Central Government package and the amount will be transferred directly in the account number submitted by people and in any way will not be delivered through some middlemen, and people caught doing this scam would be punished under law.
Others in the delegation were Ch Diwan Singh, Ch Rashpal Singh, Ch Sham Lal, Ch Om Singh, Sarpanchs; Mohan Singh Bhatti, Ch Pala, Ch Darshan Singh Kala, S Darshan Singh of Kangwala, Ch Prem Pal of Benglad, Ch Darshan Singh of Mawa while others were Ch Prakash Singh, Ch Subash Singh, Ch Surjit Singh Jeeta, Ch Satish Singh, Ch Krishan Singh, Ch Romesh Singh, Ch Sham Singh etc.
