JAMMU, Nov 20: The cultural festival and traditional handicrafts exhibition was organized by Northern Region Transmission System-II of PowerGrid Corporation of India at Police Auditorium, here today.
The emerging artists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana States participated in the festival.
Kailash Rathore, Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System- II was the chief guest on the occasion, wherein Rajesh Kumar, Executive Director (CMG) Corporate Centre was also present. The chief guest inaugurated the ‘Handicrafts & Cultural Meet’ in presence of a large number of guests, PowerGrid employees and their families.
The cultural festival encompassing talent from various States and UTs of Northern Region-II swayed the audience to the beats of colourful folk dances, plays and songs highlighting the rich composite culture of the region. It was a major event for the employees and their family members as amateur talent of the region gathered to highlight their cultural traditions.
In the programme, items drawn from different areas of the region successfully managed to depict their cultural items namely ‘Nir Nirupn’ by Abdullapur substation, ‘Sunhrey Khawab’ by Kartarpur substation, ‘Hamariek Beshkimti Dhrohar’ by the artists of Fatehabad substation, ‘Galti’ by Malerkotla substation, ‘Katputli’ by the artists of Moga substation, ‘Prtibimb’ by the artists of Hamirpur substation and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav balley dance’ presented by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu.
The welcome address was delivered by Shri Abhay Kumar, CGM (AM) and Vinod P Baxla and General Manager (HR), NRTS-II presented vote of thanks.
The team from Moga was declared the winner, whereas teams from RHQ Jammu, Abdullapur and Fatehabad were given second, third and consolation prizes respectively.
In the handicrafts exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second and third were also given away prizes by Kailash Rathore and other distinguished guests.
