JAMMU, Nov 22: PHE Employees United Front (PHEEUF), Jammu province has urged upon the higher authorities in the department to release the pending wages of the daily rated/ consolidated workers and also expedite the process of their regularization.
In a joint press conference held here today, senior Trade Union leaders Bakshi Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Subhash Verma, K C Dubey and others extended gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir UT Administration for extending full benefit of 7th Pay Commission to the employees and pensioners in the State and bringing the Provident Fund account holders/ employees under the preview of pension scheme.
While expressing serious concern over the fate of over 22053 daily rated/ consolidated/ need based / ITI workers of the PHE department, these Trade Union leaders said that previous Govt proved anti-employee but new Administration has also done nothing for these aggrieved workers. They are struggling for the release of their hard earned wages and regularization of their services. They pointed out that many workers are engaged for the last over 15-20 years. They have given their whole life in the department but still they are struggling for their regularization.
They appealed to the Lt Governor, G C Murmu to intervene personally and issue necessary directions in this regard. They said the PHE workers get hardly 4 months wages in one year. This way the wages of over 56 months are pending. The Govt must streamline the system, they demanded.
They also demanded conduct of DPC of all cadre, disbursal of all kind of pending earned wages in one go, provide job to the family members of the daily wagers who died in harness, create posts of transport foreman for drivers and provide special assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the retiring casual workers till framing of clear policy. They further said that the benefit of rotational promotions and SRO 149 of 1973 which has been extended to the employees at the level of Chief Engineer PHE department Jammu, is valid and justified and in this regard recoveries should not be made from the concerned employees.
