JAMMU, Apr 14: Former Mayor and president, All India Jat Mahasabha, Ch Manmohan Singh has sought comprehensive policy to regularize all the employees, currently working under temporary status like daily wagers and are struggling for their genuine rights.
In a press statement issued here today, the former JMC Major said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Jammu on April 24 and he should address the issue of daily rated/ casual workers by regularizing their services. The Government must frame a firm policy for their absorption and provide them justice.
Ch Manmohan said that there are many daily wagers who are getting monthly wages of Rs 1000 and onwards. He asked how a person can meet his family expenditure with the meager amount of Rs 1000 per month. This a clear mockery of the system prevalent here. He said many such daily wagers in PDD, PHE, PWD, Forest department etc are facing exploitation. They are needed to be provided justice. Many people have spent over 15 to 20 or even more years in service. They are still awaiting their regularization. Their families are facing starvation. They are unable to pay even monthly fee of their children.
Former Mayor further said that Home Guards are also facing injustice as they are providing their services on meagre remuneration of Rs 2700 per month, which is sheer violation as per Supreme Court order of 2017. There should be equal pay for equal work. He said only false assurance were given to these people and nothing was done for them on ground level.
He appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to provide justice to these people, enhance their wages and regularize their services without any more delay.
