Sir,
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir gave its approval to regularize casual workers engaged in various Government Departments with ten years capping period instead of seven years as fixed for earlier regularizations. Anyway, election year is bringing some relief to a section of our youth. But it is quite surprising that the Government is quite reluctant in considering the case of STF jawans of the State who too are worst sufferers.
This force was formed with a fixed aim to counter militant activities in the State and this task has been accomplished by STF jawans efficiently and effectively under very harsh general and service conditions. For the last seventeen years or so they are being given a meagre amount of Rs 1500 for first few years and then it was enhanced to Rs 3000 which in no circumstances is suficient to feed the families of SPOs for ten days even.
Moreover, the level of uncertainty is so high that if it is left to continue, it may tell upon the mental heath of these SPOs. It is natural to ask why a different treatment is given to a selected group of youth of our State which has worked under most difficult circumstances alongside our military and police force for the safety and security of the State. Recently, during first phase of my election campaign as independent candidate from Bhaderwah. I visited most of the families of SPOs of Bhaderwah constituency and found that there living conditions are worse than those of casual labours. So I appeal, on humanitarian grounds, to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to find out the ways and means to consider the case of regularization of about 23000 SPOs of our State, before the election code of conduct is in place. This will amount to give a new life to at least 23000 very poor families of our State.
Yours etc…
