RAMBAN, Aug 31: Former MLA from Ramban, Ashok Kumar along with Kunfer Sarpanch Dilwar Ali took stock of the grievances faced by the homeless victims of Kunfer as the result of landslide and sinking of land which was triggered due to the unscientific cutting of slopes by CPPL Company and NHAI at Kunfer (Ramban).
Ex-MLA has urged the Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir to direct the concerned authorities that the immediate proper compensation, rehabilitation, food item and cooking gas should be provided on war footing as winters are approaching.
In a statement issued here, Ashok Kumar said that the affected people of the Kunfer (Ramban) have become homeless and also lost their agricultural land due to the sinking of major portion of land at Kunfer village due to unplanned cutting of slopes in the process of widening of NH-44 Four-lane Project. The affected families are temporary accommodated without any roof. Provide immediate tents on war footing. It is a great injustice to the affected families who are below poverty line and have no scope for their daily livelihood, the Ex-MLA regretted.
Ashok further said that the affected families have no financial assistant and also become landless. Moreover, they have no source of income, the only source they used to have was their small junks of land where they used to cultivate to sustain their daily livelihood. He strongly urged upon the concerned authorities to provide immediate rehabilitation to the affected families before it’s too late.
Former legislator urged the Lieutenant Governor to provide immediate compensation, proper rehabilitation, food items, cooking gas to the affected people. In addition, temporary land for tents should also be provided on humanitarian grounds.
