JAMMU, Nov 18: Rehri and Phari Union here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of their chairman, Subash Thakyal and senior Congress leader, Narinder Gupta.
The protesters expressed resentment against the harassment by the officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and said that everyday these officials visit the petty vendors and harass them which badly disturb their livelihood.
“If this continues then how we poor people will earn our livelihood,” a protester said.
The protesters said that JMC officials should mend their ways and treat the petty vendors of Rehri and Phari outlets humanly as these small traders also have families to support.
Rajesh Kumar, president of the Union; Garu Ram, general secretary; Fakir Chand, Sunil Kumar, Deepu, Romesh Kumar, Ram Lal, Lakhan, Sham Lal, Satpal, Bharat Kumar and Kishore also raised slogans against the harassment.
