Rejection of NEET-PG

Sir,
I want to bring in the notice of the  readers, the dichotomy in the decisions of our beloved State Govt its long term disastrous consequences (circular by Health and Medical Education Deptt on Page 11 of your e-paper, dated 6th Oct, 2012). On one hand, Govt wants the youth of our state to merge with national stream for their all round development, but on the other hand, it has taken a retrograde step by rejecting the offer of NEET-PG (National Entrance Cum Eligibility Test for MD/MS/Diplomas). This will deprive our students to study in prestigious institutes like CMC, MAMC,  Lady Hardinge, AFMC, Grants Mumbai and many other alike. This decision will surely save about 300/600 MBBS& BDS and 160/320 MD/MS/MDS seats in our medical/dental colleges of the state (50% seats have to be given for Central quota to become eligible to compete for all India quotas) but only after we have sacrificed thousands of seats. Is it wise to lose so many seats which Central Govt is offering? The Govt should rethink about its implication on the future of our youth.
Yours etc….
