JAMMU, Dec 28: Jammu province senior vice president of Aam Aadmi Party, Surinder Singh Shingari said that Rehbr e Khel teachers are another category of employees who have been cornered by Jammu and Kashmir Government and their genuine demand for a proper job policy, reduction in probation period and freezing of physical teacher post are finding no takers in Government.,
At a press conference here, today Shangari said that Rehbr e Khel teachers were recruited in Jammu and Kashmir Government under Department of Youth Services and Sports and these employees are now serving in different education institutions with an aim to uplift the extra co-co curricular and sports environment.
He said, ” Like number of other Government employees who have been pushed to corner and forced to hit the roads these ReK teachers have also been cornered and they are on protest since more than one week and response from Jammu and Kashmir Government clearly shows that there will be no one to talk to them and protest of these teachers is also going to last long.”
Highlighting their demand, Shingari said that serving on a meager honorarium of Rs 3000 per month is equal to impossible task but these teachers have been forced to do so and even their salaries are not released timely where as they have a long probation period of 7 years.
” There should be a reduction of this probation period which should be 5 years while Government should immediately order hiking in their monthly honorarium which should also be covered under Minimum Wages Act.” Shingari said.
He further said that Jammu and Kashmir Government had earlier freeze the posts of physical teachers and there was a hope that these ReKs will be absorbed but present LG administration is mulling defreezing of posts which is another blow below the belt for them.
” We support all genuine demands of ReKs and appeal Jammu and Kashmir Government to address issues on priority.” Shingari said.
He also mentioned about the protest of these employees outside BJP Headquarters here and said that road outside BJP Headquarters is a symbol of failure of J&K LG administration and BJP and should be named as protest road.
