RAJOURI, June 27: The body of a 30-year-old youth was found hanging from a pole at a village in Nowshera area of Rajouri district, sparking a protest by his family members and villagers on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway.
Official sources said that Parveen Kumar, a salesman living on rent along with his wife and a child, was found dead at Bareri village in Nowshera area during early hours on Tuesday. Kumar is a native of Khour area in Akhnoor Sub Division of district Jammu. The family members and relatives rushed to Nowshera after coming to know about the incident.
The relatives first staged a protest outside Nowshera Police Station and later blocked the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch Highway near main Nowshera bridge. They demanded an in-depth investigation into Kumar’s death, claiming that he might have fallen victim to a conspiracy. They described it as clear murder and demanded immediate arrest of the accused persons involved.
The protesters dispersed after the senior police officers visited the scene and assured them that the investigation into the matter has already been initiated and will be taken to a logical conclusion, the officials said.
After conducting postmortem and performing all the legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to the family members. The police has launched inquest proceedings into the case.
