Thanna man’s suspicious death in Jammu

RAJOURI, May 12: The family members and relatives of the deceased, supported by villagers held strong protest at Lah village in Thannamandi area of district Rajouri today after one Mohd Kabir died under suspicious circumstances in Jammu.
The villagers and relatives kept the dead body of the deceased on the road at Lah and staged strong protest for over three hours demanding justice for the family.
The family sources said that Mohammed Kabir, had gone to Mumbai 3 months ago for work as a labourer, but died under suspicious circumstances in Jammu while returning home, they said
Kabir, son of Salam Din, hailing from Lah village was returning home after working from Mumbai for 3 months. He landed at Jammu Railway Station on the morning of May 7 but then went missing under suspicious circumstances. He was in touch with the family on phone. After no response of his phone calls the family members got suspicious and reached Jammu and contacted the police and after examining the footage of the CCTV camera installed at Jammu Railway Station, it was found that he had boarded off at Jammu railway station on May 7 but after that he went missing somewhere under mysterious circumstances.
On May 10, Jammu police recovered the dead body from a field in Satwari area of Jammu. Family members said that when the body was handed over to them, his clothes and shoes were not the same as those he was wearing when he got down at the Jammu Railway Station. Not only this, neither any bag nor any other item was found with him.
When he was returning home from Mumbai after 3 months, he also had cash with him but the family did not get anything other than the dead body. Keeping the dead body on the Rajouri -Thannamandi road, the family members kept protesting from 7 am to 11 am today, pleading for justice, saying that it was a blind murder. It is being told that Kabir’s father had already passed away and he was the sole support of his elderly mother and wife.
DDC Thannamandi Abdul Qayoom Mir, former MLA Qamar Chaudhary, SDPO Thannamandi Viqar Younus, SHO Hilal Azhar, reached the spot, and assured the protesting family that they are in touch with Jammu Police and the police is making all efforts to bring out the truth. After the assurance, the family members ended the protest.
