SRINAGAR, Sept 11: Member of Parliament and National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah today said that the release of Engineer Rashid is not going to impact the party, but it should be seen as an addition to the broader fight against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking to reporters in Sopore, the NC MP said that his party has its own agenda, fight, and narrative. “If Eng Rashid and his party come together to fight against the might of the BJP, against the onslaught we have faced, without compromising on any name or purpose, it will be an addition to the fight, not a challenge,” Ruhullah stated.
He stressed that the fight against the BJP is bigger than individual party interests.
Ruhullah highlighted that NC remains focused on its performance. “Most political parties have exposed themselves. It’s not us claiming that they are working with the BJP – they themselves have shown it,” he said.
He pointed out that some political figures, especially those from parties symbolised by sports icons, have openly expressed pride in working with the BJP.
“These parties, who once allied with the BJP or sought ministerial positions through them, are serving BJP’s purpose. We are not tagging or naming them – their actions speak for themselves,” Ruhullah added.
Commenting on the possibility of a repeat of the wave of support for Eng Rashid in the Lok Sabha polls, Ruhullah downplayed its significance, calling it a moment of sympathy for a prisoner rather than a movement with a long-term vision for J&K.
