JAMMU, Oct 21: Teachers Welfare Association President Jasmeet Singh Madaan has urged State Project Director, Rakesh Magotra to release MDM cook wages and cooking cost immediately before the festive season as cooks are without their wages since last 4 months and Incharge MDM Teachers/ Masters are paying from their own pocket to shopkeepers to meet out the daily expenses incurred on MDM.
Madaan also urged SPD to streamline the payment system as only Rs 1000 is being paid to MDM cooks and that too, if delayed, disrupt the smooth functioning of MDM. We can wait for cooking cost payments but please ensure their wages in time.
He urged Sakina Ittoo, Education Minister to enhance the honararium of MDM cook wages by sanctioning State’s share too as the Govt of Haryana, Punjab and Himachal have done as merely Rs.1000 for preparing MDM, cleaning utensils and maintaining hygienic kitchen is not suffice and advocated minimum Rs. 4000/- to 5000/- per month honararium for them.
