JAMMU, Aug 22: The farmers of Kathard area today demanded releasing of water in Lift Irrigation canal in the area as hundreds of Kanals of paddy land has turned dry due to lack of irrigation facilities.
Kewal Sharma a social activist of the area said that the farmers are worried as entire paddy crop will get destroyed in case immediate steps were not taken in releasing the water in the canal.
He said that due to failure of Irrigation Department to clean the head works of the lift irrigation canal the water could not be released in the canal for last over 20 days resulting into the worry to farming community.
He said farmers in the area are totally worried as their paddy crop will get destroyed in case the irrigation water is not released in the canal immediately.
