JAMMU, Dec 30: On the eve of Yaksh Amavasya, Dr Arvind Karwani, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) J&K, released two Kashmiri Bhajans produced by the Athrot Cultural Foundation.
These bhajans, dedicated to Mata Kheer Bhawani (the Kul Devi of Kashmiri Pandits), are sung by Kanwal Peshin, inspired by his late father Pt Janki Nath Peshin.
The bhajans, titled “Dodhharki Pyale Baryey” and “Shur Chuss Meaj Bhawani,” were written by Pt Jia Lal Saraf and recorded at the divine Kheer Bhawani temple. The music and video were arranged by Ravi Dhar, owner of Vitasta Music Production.
During the releasing event, Dr Karwani, along with D C Relief Vijay Sharma, praised the efforts of the Athrot Cultural Foundation, led by R K Pandita and Abhimanyu Peshin, for their significant contribution to preserving Kashmiri culture.
The bhajans were released in the presence of Muktesh Yogi, socio-political activist and advisor to Team Athrot, and Dr Rohit Koul, Director and CEO of Peoples Hut Foundation.
As part of the ceremony, Kanwal Peshin presented a traditional Kenzi Khoas to Dr Karwani as a cultural symbol of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
The bhajans are now available globally on the Athrot Productions YouTube channel and The Modern Kashmiri Pandits Facebook page.
Speaking at the event, DC Relief Vijay Sharma emphasized the abundance of talent in J&K and the importance of expert guidance to polish it.
He hoped that these devotional songs would inspire young artists in the Kashmiri Pandit community to discover and nurture their talents.
Dr Karwani appreciated the youth for their role in preserving Kashmiri culture, emphasizing that music plays a key role in transcending boundaries.
He also praised artists like Kanwal Peshin and called for more support from cultural organizations and media.
Arvin Tickoo, the media advisor for this project, was also commended for his contributions.
