JAMMU, May 19: Relief Contractors Association in a meeting chaired by Jogander Lal discussed the issues of non-payment of bills for the works executed by the Contractors.
Association Secretary, S.L Koul said, a big chunk of work done bills of Contractors involved in the relief organization (M) Jammu have not been processed in the last couple of weeks in the month of March 2020 by the account section officers and officials who remained absent during the 1st lockdown despite strict instructions from Government to remain present in offices up to March 31, 2020 to clear the Bills and other liabilities.
The Association claimed that due to this negligence funds to the tune of Rs. 10.85 crore were lapsed.
In a handout the Association said that Contractors owe lakhs of rupees to suppliers, banks in shape of repayments of loans and also to the labour and this is increasing their stress.
The Contractors demanded that the recently announced PM’s aid should be used to help them.
Association President, Ashok Dhar appealed to the Advisor of the LG to intervene into the matter.
Jatin Bhat, Parshotam Lal, Nana Raina, Amit Sawhney and others were also present in the meeting.
