Sir,
Though the Government has allotted a whopping sum as relief package for flood hit victims of the State, there is need to monitor relief distribution work. This has become necessary in view of the past experience when fraud was detected in relief distribution.
The recent earthquake in Doda region also falls in the category. People have alleged that distribution of relief material was not done properly. There were allegation of nepotism and favouritism with regard to allotment of tents. Likewise the groups that are vocal and exercise power and exert influence get a lion’s share while as those who do not have any connection are ignored and left to fend for themselves.
So administration should ensure that the affected families whether rich or poor receive the same treatment from the authorities entrusted with the task of distributing relief material to victims.
