Relief from spam calls expected; TRAI gives recommendations

NEW DELHI, Feb 23 : At last relief from SPAM calls on your mobile phones may be a reality with the telecom regulator TRAI asking DoT to ensure presentation of name of Calling person.

In its recommendations to the DoT, TRAI said “Presentation of Calling Name” must be introduced as supplementary service in all the networks.

Unwanted calls and messages has become a menace affecting every mobile user and all efforts of the govt to control this have failed.

All telecom Service Providers should provide presentation of calling name to their subscribers upon their request.

The name used in the Customer Acquisition Form should be used as the name to be displayed.

After acceptance of recommendations the DoT must issue appropriate notifications for making this application mandatory in all devices sold in India after a suitable cut-off date. (UNI)
