Relief holders’ chain hunger strike enters 25th day

JAMMU, Aug 25: The relief holders of Jagti township today urged the Government to take immediate steps in fulfilling the promise made with them last time while pursuing the relief holders to suspend over two month long dharna and hunger strike.
In a statement issued here today Ajay Bhat a spokesman of the relief holders said the Government should pursue the case with Union Government regarding enhancement of cash relief to Rs 10,000 per family as promised.
He warned that the relief holders of the Jagti township will launch hunger strike from August 27 in support of the demand if nothing tangible materializes till then.
Bhat in an appeal to community leaders in general and members in particular sought their support.
Meanwhile, the chain hunger strike launched by the relief holders in Front of Relief Organisation here entered 25th day today. The relief holders and over aged youth are protesting against the delay in decision to enhance the cash relief for them.
They said during the 83 day long earlier agitation an assurance was given in Apex Committee meeting by none other than Chief Minister that immediate steps will be taken regarding enhancement of cash relief. But it is regretted that the file in this regard has not moved an inch since then, they added.
They appealed and Union Governments to redress the problems being faced by exiled community.
Meanwhile the apex Committee members have assured to extend full support to struggle.
