Relief holders plea to Union Govt

JAMMU, June 29: Relief holders at Jagti in a meeting today under the leadership of Ajay Bhat and O N Kaw have made an appeal to Central Government to look into the memo approved by State Cabinet regarding enhancement of cash relief for Kashmiri migrants in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
The meeting, while expressing its gratitude to Consumer Affairs Department for giving APL cards to migrant employees demanded that they be provided 35 kgs of rice per ration card.
It also urged the Government to take action against those elements who are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir Valley as the people of state have suffered lot in 23 year long turmoil which caused lot of destruction and devastation.
Meanwhile, a delegation of over aged youth and relief holders called on Relief Commissioner R K Pandita and made it clear to him that in case the Government failed to enhance the relief within three weeks they will resume the agitation.
The delegation was led by Ravinder Raina. He informed the Relief Commissioner about the plight of the relief holders who are not in a position to make their both ends meet in present economic crisis.
