Relief holders protest in front of RC’s office

JAMMU, Jan 8: Kashmiri migrant relief holders and over-aged youth held a demonstration in front of Relief Commissioner’s Office here today in protest against the State Government’s apathy towards them.
Protestors with pla -cards and banners in their hands raising slogans against the Government accused it of hoodwinking the community as it has failed to do any thing on ground to mitigate the sufferings of displaced people in general and over-aged youth and relief holders in particular.
The protestors said it is a paradox that during the five years the Government led by Omar Abdullah did nothing in solid to ameliorate the lot of the displaced Pandits from Valley. Be it the enhancement of relief, implementation of employment package or grant of compensation to over-aged youth the Government did nothing in practical, they added.
They, while highlighting the problems of Jagti township inmates said since the migrants were shifted to Jagti their problems multiplied and Chief Minister instead of soliving their problems rubbed salt on their wounds.
They said if Chief Minister does not want to go by consensus and favours majority decision then who stopped his Government in mitigating the migrants problems during his five year tenure despite knowing fully that the community was the worst hit by terrorism.
Ravinder Koul who led the protest accused the Government of not being sincere towards the displaced people and ignoring the community. He said seeing that elections are round the corner the CM tried to hoodwink the community.
Sunil Fotedar another youth said that five years was a sufficient time for passage of Temples Bill which the Government ignored deliberately.
Others who addressed the demonstration included Shiban Ji Bhat, Rakesh Tickoo, Raja Kakroo, Satish Raina, Susheel Bali, Sunil Raina, Sanjay Jalali and Rakesh Koul.
