Religious figures key to ending drug menace: DIG

Baramulla, Sept 13: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of North Kashmir Range, Vivek Gupta, today highlighted the significant role that civil societies and religious institutions can play in eradicating the menace of drug abuse.
He made these remarks during a Anti-Drug Conference for religious leaders and religious preachers (Imams) held at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
The conference was attended by various police officers, including DIG North Kashmir Range SSP Baramulla Amod Nagpure, DySP Hqrs Baramulla, SDPO Pattan, SDPO Tangmarg, and DySP DAR DPL Baramulla.
Experts from various fields, including legal, medical, social, governmental, and religious backgrounds, also participated in the conference and shared their insights on topics related to religious condemnations of drugs.
DIG stressed the pivotal role of civil societies and religious institutions in combating the scourge of drug addiction in our society.
He emphasized the significant influence of religious leaders, noting that they are not only respected figures “but also serve as our moral compass, guiding us with unwavering devotion along the righteous path of our faith.”
The audience at the conference primarily consisted of religious leaders, preachers, and youth. SSP Baramulla also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the crucial role that religious leaders and civil society play in reducing the demand for drugs.
