JAMMU, Feb 21: A grand religious function was organised by Sant Pura Dhanna Charitable Trust in connection with the anniversary of Sant Gurbakash Singh Danna ji Maharaj, Domana on Akhnoor Road here today.
The annual ` Smagam’ in this connection was held at Gurdwara Sant Pura Danna, under the guidance of Sant Tejwant Singh by the member trustees. A large number of devotees attended this religious programme.
Several religious personalities spoke on the occasion and threw light on the life and teachings of great saint, Gurbakhash Singh Danna from J&K. They disclosed that Sant Gurbkash Singh ji has rendered whole of his life for down trodden people of J&K and during 1947 turmoil be helped displaced person for their rehabilitation. Since that period he served the humanity while residing at village Marh Bagh. He helped the society in religious, education and social sector.
The programme commenced with Shri Akhand Path on February 19 in the morning. It concluded today with `katha- kirtan and final `Bhog’. Those who recited `Shabd Kirtan’ included Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Head Granthi Shri Darbar Sahib Amirtsar; Bhai Kulvinder Singh ji Anandpur Sahib Punjab, Bhai Varinder Singh Hajoori Ragi Shri Darbar Sahib Amirtsar Punjab.
The programme was assisted by Jammu District Gurdwara Parbadhak Committee, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, Akali Dal (B), Akali Dal (Asr) and others.
Two medical camps knee care and health care were also organised by Fortis Escorts Hospital Amritsar and eye camp by Dr Goel of Goel Eye Clinic Jammu at the venue with the support of the Trust.
Tejwant Singh chief patron of Trust thanked the devotees and appealed to all the sections of society to spread the message welfare of mankind and to get the benefit of health care facilities rendered by the trust.
Some senior officers including BR Sharma Chief Secretary J&K, Pawan Kotwal Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Mandeep Kour, Commissioner JMC; G N Itoo Directot Estate and Ch Sukhnanadan Ex-minister were honoured by the Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib for their good services for the public on the occasion.
