JAMMU, Feb 25: Government today said that remaining flats at Migrant Township, Jagti would be allotted shortly as the final allotment list of deserving non-camp migrant families has been prepared.
In a written reply to the question of CPM MLA, Mohd Yousaf Tarigami, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation said that the process of allotment of the remaining flats at Jagti to the needy and poor migrants got delayed as the matter was sub-judice before the court of law.
“Immediately after disposal of the matter by the Court, the process of verification of more than 5000 applications was made and has been completed”, he said, adding “the final allotment list of deserving non-camp migrant families has been prepared and these flats will be allotted to the migrant families shortly”.
Replying to a query regarding status of construction/allotment of shops to small migrant traders in Jagti township and other TRT sites in Jammu, he said that authorization for construction of 150 shops at Jagti has been conveyed to the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner.
About the reasons for delay in advertising the remaining 3000 posts under PM’s Special Recruitment Package for Kashmiri migrants, the Minister said that 3000 posts cannot be spared out of the available vacancies in the State exclusively for Kashmiri migrants in view of some legal problems.
“Accordingly, a proposal was submitted to Government of India after obtaining the approval of State Cabinet to provide funds for these posts as well and the approval for the same is awaited”, the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister added.
About the delay in the allotment of newly constructed prefabricated accommodation to the migrant employees at Vessu, Qazigund and other district headquarters in the Valley, the Minister said that at Vessu Qazigund 250 pre-fabricated huts had been sanctioned for construction under PM’s Package out of which 214 huts have been completed and 140 already allotted to the newly appointed migrant employees.
“Seventy four pre-fabricated huts out of 214 completed will be allotted to the employees shortly as external electrification for these 74 huts is to be put in place by the Electric Division Kulgam and funds for the same have already been transferred”, the Minister said. He, however, said that no pre-fabricated huts have been constructed at any other district headquarter in Valley.
