Remembering Martyrs

Sir,
This has reference to the newsitem’4th martyrdom day of Captain Tushar Mahajan observed’ (DE, Feb22, 2020).It is nice to read that Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust in association with Pancham Jammu organised a programme to observe the 4th martyrdom day of martyr Tushar Mahajan (Shourya Chakra) who made the supreme sacrifice of his life while fighting the holed up militants at Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir on Feb21, 2016.Honouring the families of those martyrs who laid down their lives while defending the sovereignty and integrity of our nation on this occasion by the Trust is a noble gesture to share the grief and sorrow of the families of the bravehearts and to assure them that the whole country is with them in their sorrow and grief. The Trust paid rich tributes to the martyrs who displaying indomitable courage and valour and never mind ed sacrificing their life for the sake of their motherland.None can forget the supreme sacrifice of our security men in wars and in anti militancy operations while defending the integrity and sovereignty of their country? They die that their countrymen must live. They are the pride of our country and are the heroes of the whole country and not only of the region they hail from.
People ought to pay salute to their valour, bravery and sacrifice in a dignified way by remembering them on their birth anniverseries and martyrdom day.It is worthwhile to take candle marches to the memorials built in their memory to express solidarity with their familes and express them their gratitude for their supreme sacrifice.A martyr makes the supreme sacrifice of his life for the cause of his motherland and the different social and political organisations too should come forward to pay our martyrs rich tribute. The Government should also recognise their supreme sacrifice for their nation and provide various facilities such as free/concessional travelling in trains/planes,reservation of seats for their wards, free medical treatment for their dependents etc.Functions at school and college levels should also be organised to commemorate their sacrifices. It must be made compulsory for the local schools and offices to display their photographs.Their kiths and kins should be invited to various functions and honoured and their tales of bravery and valour must be narrated and included in the syllabus at school and college level in order to inculcate nationalistic spirit in the children and the youth.
