RAMNAGAR, Jan 14 : Accusing the previous Governments of neglecting the remote and far-flung areas in development and welfare programmes, Union Minister in PMO with Independent Charge of Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that these areas received due attention during Narendra Modi Government in last over nine and half years.
Talking to reporters here today during the launch of state-of-the-art, Artificial Intelligence (AI) supported Telemedicine Mobile Clinic “Aarogya-Doctors on Wheels” for his Lok Sabha constituency’s remote hilly areas of Ramnagar region, Dr Jitendra Singh said due to the constant neglect of these remote and far-flung areas they were totally deprived of road connectivity as well as health care facilities.
He said with a vested interest the successive Governments did not bother for the development of these areas as they wanted to keep them deprived of all the facilities so that they can exploit them from time to time. Dr Jitendra Singh said in comparison to that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who had on the first day of coming to power declared that his Government’s preference will be development of far-flung and backward areas of the country and he fulfilled this promise by bringing the neglected and remote areas at par with the other developed areas of the country.
The Union Minister said keeping his promise Modi Government paid special attention in road connectivity of hitherto neglected areas of J&K as a whole and backward areas of Udhampur also got special attention in road connectivity during this period. He said besides, road connectivity, the latest Artificial Intelligence supported Telemedicine Mobile Clinic was launched in this remote area of Udhampur district.
Criticising the successive Governments, Dr Jitendra Singh said they made deliberate attempts to keep these areas backward over last 65 years by constantly neglecting them as political parties who ruled the erstwhile State during that period had developed a vested interest of keeping the people of this belt ignorant.
The Modi Government in comparison to that made them equal beneficiaries of welfare programmes and road projects like other metropolitan cities of the country, he said. It was the concern of Modi Government for the welfare and development of the backward and far-flung areas of J&K that Udhampur received maximums hare of PMGYS roads in the whole country, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh while launching the AI said the latest upgraded Tele Clinic is Artificial Intelligence-driven to provide health care facilities in far flung areas of the Udhampur district where such facilities are either not available or inadequately available, he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh explained that “Aarogya” functions on the latest methodology wherein a patient can narrate his illness or complaint in his native language and the AI doctor understands the language and responds to the patient in the same language.
Dr Jitendra Singh said afterwards, the patient is connected to one of the leading super specialists in the country as this telemedicine hospital has been tied up with some of the leading hospitals in the country. Later, the patient’s entire body profile and investigations are done. Within about 40 to 50 minutes, a patient is provided with the prescription. Dr Singh said the patient is provided free of cost treatment.
The Minister said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has made a firm resolve to provide healthcare facilities to the remotest parts of the country, harnessing the latest technological developments. The present initiative is also inspired by that, he said.
Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the first phase of this facility was conducted in the far-flung Gandoh area of district Doda where it spent three months. The second phase was conducted along the Zero Line villages of the International Border (IB), and the third phase was held in the upper reaches of Billawar. The fourth phase in the next few months will be conducted in Dudu Basantgarh in the upper reaches of Ramnagar block of Udhampur district.
Dr Jitendra Singh appealed to local people to avail the facility, saying that through this latest super speciality hospital, doctors are coming to their doorsteps.
