‘India emerging as cost effective medicare destination’

JAMMU, Mar 17: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that health sector in J&K could not develop on expected lines due to some Constitutional and administrative barriers.
Addressing the “Doctors’ Sammelan” organised by BJP here today, Dr Jitendra Singh , who was chief guest on the occasion, accused the earlier Governments of not paying any attention towards bettering healthcare facilities in J&K with the result the people of the erstwhile State were deprived of affordable healthcare facilities for about seven decades.
The Union Minister said that the situation has now changed for a better after Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister in 2014 and after removal of all Constitutional barriers by him in 2019 which were deliberately put to push the erstwhile State into backwardness, the Corporate Sector is joining Health Sector in J&K to improve the healthcare facilities in the UT.
Dr Jitendra Singh said it was the result of PM Modi’s policies that Apollo is going to set up hospital in Jammu and it has already taken initiative in this regard. The medi-cities are also being set up in different parts of the UT including Kashmir. Now there will be synergy in public and private sector, he added.
He said health sector is being integrated in the UT and it will turn up one of the cost effective health care destinations. The health services in J&K will show rapid improvement with the arrival of Corporate Sector. Dr Jitendra Singh said with the tireless efforts of PM Modi, India is going to emerge as one of the top bio manufacturing countries in the world and cost effective healthcare destination.
He said the Government under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is committed to provide affordable healthcare and over the last 10 years , a series of steps have been taken in this direction.
One of the distinct examples of this is the Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme, unique of its kind in the world, in the sense that it provides insurance even for a pre- existing disease.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, to provide more accessibility to Government sector medical colleges for affordable Medical Education, the number of MBBS seats has been increased by 79% from 51,348 to 91,927 while MD seats by 93% from 31,185 to 60,202 in less than 10 years.
In a quantum jump, Dr Jitendra Singh said, from 45 Government medical colleges in 2014, India now has 260 such GMCs, while the number of AIIMS in the country went up to 23 in 10 years, he informed.
Talking about India’s vaccination programme, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that India has emerged as a world leader in protective healthcare. Earlier, the country wasn’t taken seriously as a healthcare provider, he noted.
The Minister commended the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for freeing the healthcare sector of shackles and doing away with obsolete regulations, adding that a more enabling milieu has been created.
The Minister spoke about incorporating telemedicine provision in mobile clinics to hospitals on the pattern of Doctors on Wheels facility. He called for an integrated health management protocol to add value to delivering medical services in far-flung areas.
Dr Jitendra Singh also spoke about the latest tools of medical practice like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum therapies etc and shared his experiences on the same. He also spoke about integrating clinical medicine with deep technology for drawing maximum outcomes.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the priority in next two decades has to be preventive healthcare so that the energy and well- being of youth may be channelised to the maximum extent in realising Modi’s vision for 2047 India.
On the occasion, prominent doctors and medicos were felicitated.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India has demonstrated its resourcefulness to the entire world in the COVID pandemic time, and also mentioned Ayushman scheme, holistic healthcare, Yoga, health Start-Ups etc.
He further said that BJP holds the credit of giving true democratic representation to the public by asking for the suggestion to frame its election manifesto and requested the intelligentsia forum represented by the doctors present in the programme to share their suggestions regarding the health, development, societal and other issues to be added in the manifesto.
Ashok Koul said that BJP and it’s Medical Cell feels proud of services of our doctors and now that All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) besides many new Medical Colleges have come up in Jammu and Kashmir, there will be considerable improvement in healthcare services and more students will be able to pursue medicine course. He said that doctors’ fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir had always been providing people best healthcare services and deserve accolades. He said that under Modi Government, J&K has witnessed a boom in the healthcare education and facilities.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal said that the BJP is working with the mission to make India as ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed) by 2047, and want to draw a roadmap for achieving this target, for which the suggestions of the people working in different fields and at different levels is going to be of great help. Dr Rakesh Mahajan and Puneet Mahajan also spoke on the occasion.
