Remove bottlenecks impeding establishment of new colleges: Advisor

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, today directed the concerned officers to put in extra efforts to remove bottlenecks impeding establishment of new degree colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Advisor made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review land related issues of newly established degree colleges.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Higher Education, Talet Parvez Rohella, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Special Secretary Housing Department, Haroon Rashid, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Tariq Ganai, and Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain Mir.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioners of Udhampur, Rajouri, Samba and Poonch and VC Jammu Development Authority (JDA) participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
During the meeting, Secretary Higher Education put forth all the land related issues impeding the progress on few newly establishment degree colleges. The issues were discussed with the concerned officials and the modus operandi for their resolution was explored.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu assured the meeting that all the issues impeding the progress of these colleges in Jammu division would be prioritized. He apprised the meeting that no college would face any delay for want of transfer of land for its establishment.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar informed the meeting that colleges facing land related matters in the district have been looked into and resolutions obtained against each of them. He assured the meeting that the academic session in each of them would be started without any delay.
Additional Commissioner Kashmir also assured his full cooperation in resolving issues requiring intervention at his end. He said that it will be ensured that all the colleges are established within the stipulated time frame.
Other Deputy Commissi-oners also gave their inputs during the meeting regarding the removal of bottlenecks faced by the colleges in their respective jurisdictions.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Ganai exhorted upon the officers to vigorously follow the court cases and other land related issues so that the institutions are established within the shortest possible time.
He enjoined upon them to work in tandem to accelerate the process of establishment of these colleges so that the curricular activities in all of them are started soon.
