JAMMU, Nov 11: Mumbai based renowned tele-film maker and TV actress, producer and director, Rashmi Sharma Rai has demanded Satellite Duggar Channel in Jammu for furtherance of Dogri Language and Duggar Culture.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rai observed that both AIR Jammu and DD Jammu have stopped production activities which were imperative for creativity, innovation and professionalism of budding artists.
She demanded the start of production activities in both AIR and DD Jammu and also suggested that even DD Jammu with existing infrastructure could be converted into Duggar Satellite Channel which is need of the hour to provide a platform to writers and artists to enhance and sharpen their skills.
She said that the cultural and linguistic heritage of J&K is highly diversified and propagation of cultures is must for unity.
Hailing from Bihar, Rashmi Sharma is daughter of former veteran and popular Director of All India Radio Jammu, Late Ghanshayam Sharma and she received her school, college and university education in Jammu.
She considers Jammu as her second home as she was groomed and nurtured in Jammu as a student and as an artist as well. Right from her childhood she was associated with cultural activities and has bagged many awards and prizes at State and national level.
Others present in the press conference were Harish Kaila, Yash Pal Yash, Narinder Singh Chib, Sunita Bhadwal, Rajinder Kumar Narang, Dr. Sushil Bhola and Sadhna Kachroo.
